John Banister Tabb

To My Shadow

by John Banister Tabb

Friend forever in the light
Cleaving to my side,
Harbinger of endless night
That must soon betide;

Hither, seemest thou to say,
From the twilight now:
In the darkness when I stay,
Never thence wilt thou.
