Hark To The Waves That Roll
By Achsa White Sprague
Hark to the waves that roll
Deep, deep within the soul --
Hear them sob and weep!
They mourn the silent dead,
For whom such tears are shed
In its fountains deep.
Its anguish who shall tell,
For loved ones gone to dwell
In their homes unknown?
Its weary waves repeat,
We never more shall meet --
Evermore alone!
O weary waves, find rest!
In regions of the blest
Must they live sublime.
O soul, be strong! thou'lt meet
The loved, in their retreat,
Far beyond all time.
