Holy Spirit Gone Free

By Katharine Lee Bates

Holy spirit gone free,Free of the weary clay,
What do the glad eyes see
This first day?
Where is Heaven for thee?

Art thou adoring the Throne,
Kissing the Wounded Feet?
Art thou greeting thine own,
Souls home-sweet?
Whither, O whither flown?

Art thou lingering here,
Still, as aforetime, fain
Sorrow of mine to cheer?
In this pain
Art thou the courage, Dear?
